AVIC Xi’an Aviation Brake Technology Co., Ltd. (Factory 514 and hereinafter referred to as XBC) was founded in 1955 as one of 156 key construction projects during the First-Five-Year Plan period. Its R&D center is located in Xi’an high-tech zone, and the manufacturing and test bases are located in Xingping City of Shaanxi Province and Anshun City of Guizhou Province. XBC currently covers an area of approximately 790,000 m2 and employs over 4,000 staffs, including more than 2,000 professionals and 200 technicians and senior technicians. XBC has a National Postdoctoral Scientific and Research Workstation on Aircraft Takeoff and Landing System as well as an Academician and Expert Workstation of Xián City. In addition, it is also an Enterprise Technology Center of Shannxi Province.
Over the past 60 years, complete technical systems and standard systems have been established by XBC as a professional developer and manufacturer in military and civil aircraft wheel and brake systems. Adhering to independent innovation, XBC has achieved fruitful results in research and application, covering new materials, new processes and new technologies, filling in the technical gaps in domestic aircraft wheel and brake industry continually. In China, XBC pioneered the industrial technologies including Sequential Crystallization of Large Magnesium Castings, Isothermal Precision Forging of Aluminum Alloy, High Temperature Carbon-based Composite Braking Material, Electronic Anti-skid Brake System, Digital Brake-by-wire Anti-skid Brake System, Electric Actuation Brake system. The research programs: Research and Application of Carbon Ceramic Composite Materials Functioning as Aircraft Brake and Aircraft Self-feeding Energy Brake Assembly and New Technology in Antiskid Control won the second prizes of National Award for Technological Invention in 2017 and 2018 respectively. XBC provides the wheels and braking systems for all types of domestically-made aircrafts, strongly supporting the complement requirements of various aviation equipments and making positive contributions to the development of aviation industry.
XBC is fully equipped with specialized test equipments for wheel and braking systems. XBC has built a multi-gear integrated dynamometer with leading international capabilities, as well as a leading domestic hardware-in-loop brake system simulation lab and wheel fatigue dynamometer independently. Moreover, XBC also introduced advanced large size electric inertia dynamometer and wheel radial and lateral load test bench, which are Chinese aircraft wheel and brake test center approved by CAAC (Civil Aviation Administration of China).
XBC has been actively cooperating with well-known international enterprises through maintenance of civil aviation and subcontracting. It has obtained the Maintenance Organization Approval Certification from CAAC, providing maintenance and service support to the wheel & brake systems of more than 220 part numbers and over 20 types of civil aircrafts, such as Airbus, Boeing,Bombardier and MA(Modern Ark) series. Over 10 systems and equipments have obtained TC,CTSO and PMA certificates together with related aircrafts. XBC is the only domestic supplier with the capability of providing integrated wheel and brake systems and equipments for civil aircrafts. It is also the largest maintainer and service supporter of aircraft wheels and brakes in northwest region.
Taking full advantage of aircraft brake technology, XBC commits to long-term research, development and manufacture of brake products in non-aviation field. Its products have been successfully applied to automobiles, rail transit, wing power generation etc. XBC provides series brake products to well-known domestic automobile manufacturers such as FAW-Volkswagen. Breakthroughs have been made in researching and manufacturing brake products for rail transit industry like detection bogie of high speed train and maglev train.

It has obtained NADCAP special process accreditation in heat treatment and chemical treatment. It is also certified in terms of confidentiality, safety, environmental/occupational health management system.
